This Mexican state just opened its 1st public EV charging station

The Mexican state of Sonora has opened its first public electric-vehicle charging station.

Sonora’s governor has inaugurated a charging station for the state’s electric buses, which will also be available for public use.

Sonora is now the fifth in Mexico to open a public electric vehicle charging station, according to Gov. Alfonso Durazo.

The new station in the center of Hermosillo includes four electric charging machines and is capable of 100 charges daily. The governor also announced the addition of three more electric buses to the state’s fleet.

The effort is part of the state and federal governments’ Plan Sonora — a long-term framework that aims to convert the border state into a sustainability hub.
